Sports Shirt – Box Frame: £308

Sports Shirt - Box Frame
One of our recent projects involved framing a signed football shirt for a passionate fan. Our client asked for a display that would showcase both the shirt and the signatures while remaining mindful of their budget.

To create the perfect presentation, we crafted a bespoke foam insert, designed to gently stretch the fabric to keep it from sagging. This was hand-stitched onto a contrasting mountboard, selected especially to embolden the colours in the shirt.

To keep the project within budget, we selected a factory-finished sprayed wood moulding and plain glass. The deep frame allowed us to set back the shirt in a way that highlighted its character, while the glazing is instrumental in protecting it from dust and the risk of physical damage.
The result was a stunning display that transformed a piece of treasured memorabilia into a work of art, elevating our client’s prized possession and protecting it for years to come.

Museum Grade Frame: £400

This fabulous signed lithograph was deserving of nothing less than the highest quality materials and treatment. This artwork, with its vivid colours and rich brushwork, is a slice of history so when it came to framing, the design was instrumental in preserving the integrity of the print as well as creating a solution to visually support and elevate the artwork.

To mount the work, we started with a museum grade cotton rag backing board, a naturally chemically inert product, selected for its archival properties. To hold the artwork in place, we used mounting corners – with these, no adhesive ever encounters the artwork. Instead, the art is cradled by inert archival polyester and can simply be lifted out.

Once safely fixed to the backing board we used a double cotton-rag mount in colours sympathetic to the tones in the paper to draw your eye to the work and give it some room to breathe.

For the frame, we went for a generously proportioned spoon-shaped obeche moulding, with a hand-stain in black, finished with a nourishing coat of wax. The Black is strong enough to balance with the rich colours in the piece while remaining neutral enough to not detract from the work.

Museum glass was a given – with both a 99.6% UV protective barrier and anti-reflective properties, it means that neither the safety nor the presentation of the work needed to be compromised.

Hanging Textile Display: Frame £1030

This striking textile piece by Grayson Perry deserved something special to show off its unique design whilst remaining robust enough to protect the work.

The artwork itself is designed to be hung, so we built in a hand-painted white pole, screwed in through the back of the frame to keep the method of fixing disguised.

To keep the fabric held in a safe and visually attractive position, we used small plastic tags to attach the textile to the mountboard. The tags are barely visible, attached within seams to disguise their presence, and best of all are a completely safe and reversible method of mounting the work.

For the frame, we opted for a chunky solid ash profile to compliment the bold block colours with a deep enough rebate to accommodate the hanging pole and the natural movement of the work.

Instead of glass, we used a 3mm UV-protective acrylic that is scuff-resistant and lighter, offering the same visual clarity while being safer and more practical at this size.

A sub-frame is incorporated into the back of the structure, serving two key purposes: reinforcing the frame’s stability and acting as a split-batten/French cleat hanging system. This system allows for a secure and balanced installation, distributing the weight evenly across the wall for a firm and stable display.

Painting On Canvas Into Tray Frame: £132

Canvas Into Tray Frame

This fabulous painting on canvas, is presented in an elegant tray frame that perfectly complements the artwork. The frame itself is crafted from hand-painted solid wood moulding, adding a touch of sophistication and highlighting the painting’s visual appeal.

Please note that the canvas stretcher bar and stretching service required for this size canvas are available for an additional £75.

Float Mount Into Box Frame: £151.50

Float Mount Into Box Frame

This exquisite Cornelia Parker lithograph, “The Blue Room” (2008), has been framed to enhance its presentation and ensure its long-term preservation. The piece is float mounted using museum-grade mountboard and water-activated Japanese mulberry hinging tape, allowing the full edges of the artwork to be visible while providing secure support. UV protective glazing has been employed to safeguard the lithograph from harmful light exposure. The frame itself is a hand-stained solid tulipwood box frame, complete with spacing fillets to create a subtle depth between the artwork and the glazing. This thoughtful framing approach not only protects the artwork but also complements its aesthetic, allowing viewers to fully appreciate Parker’s masterful creation.
